Bits and Baubles
Jul. 6th, 2011 10:41 pmIt is 10:30pm and 87 degrees inside the house. I am reminding myself that at least my desk isn't actively warm to the touch. And while I am dressed lightly (as I have been doing for the last week), this is still actually tolerable. Give it six months and I'll be daydreaming of these temperatures as I sit shivering at my desk at work. And weather like this is why we have ceiling fans in every room.
Have a temporary crown (another one!) on in the upper right quadrant of my mouth. It's being somewhat more achey than I recall the ones on the left side being; I think Dr. Joyer cut a bit of gum, which may explain it. I get the permanent crown on the 19th; hopefully this temp crown will not fall off aforehand. (I was very amused to find that the dental assistant's opinion of DotM matched mine.) Hopefully this will also be my last crown.
Culinary discovery of the day is that luffas (which are edible when they're young) will pan-fry like squash, are perhaps a bit flimsier/softer than squash, but also have a bitter edge than the squash lacks. Apparently it's caused by the peel? I'm pondering trying to make luffa pickles to see how they turn out.... (I have a volunteer luffa plant going and am experimenting; last time I grew it I used the fruit strictly for bath sponges.)
And, for those following, Deus Ex Machina chapter four is half done, and the story is still throwing me curves. I have no idea where tonight's revelation about the Hound/Mirage relationship came from, but it's certainly... interesting. I like to think that holds true for all the quasi-bizarre character reimaginings my brain keeps tossing at me, but that's ego speaking.
Anyhow, time to go lie down atop the covers on Mt. Bed, with the fan whirling slowly overhead and the side and bathroom windows open to catch night breezes and any drops in temperature.
