"For a woman..."
Feb. 11th, 2011 10:18 amPart of my job is answering the phones, and part of answering the phones is giving directions. I've been doing this for six years now, and I just got told the most insulting thing I've ever heard in those six years:
"For a woman, you give excellent directions."
What the F*** does my gender have to do with having a sense of direction?!
I was polite. It's my job.
But I am pissed off.
(For the record: I have an excellent sense of direction. I can also fold maps with no problem. Any other antiquated, worn-out gender stereotypes that old white men would like to bring up, they can stuff those up their rear ends as well.)
