Got a late start writing today, due to baking quiche and apple pie. Wrote nonetheless, though it doesn't seem like very much happened. Kitty's peasant slip is showing, Terren is sort of angsting over his lost first love, Lily stocks a very broad range of teas, and Briselied is being molested in her sleep by an also-unconscious succubus. It feels like this is all kind of treading water/placeholding until Action Occurs [tm]. I think I have four or five big scenes left to go: Ariss makes her choice; Ariss announces her choice; Ariss dies and the gods stop protecting the kingdom; her choice is crowned; as she lies in state, Rosemarinda sees her ghost. End of book. The trouble is getting from the here to the there. I'm likely overwriting unnecessary scenes while my subconscious figures out what to do next. But on the other hand, I have more than six characters in this universe and there needs to be space between the big things that happen. Characters need time to process events. I do think after I finish off the current scene, though, I'm going back to Ariss and her making that choice.
