On Familial Talent

So this evening was largely spent at the Orange County High School of the Arts' Cinefest 2010. The reason I was there was because my cousin's senior project was the final entry.

Holy hell do I want to see what Geoff could do on an actual budget.

I'm praying that my cousin can make it in Hollywood because he's got one hell of a directing talent and he's been working hard on honing it for several years already. (He's also a pretty damn good actor.)

(Somewhat amusingly, Geoff comes from my mom's side of the family. On the other side of the family, my dad has a cousin who... well, let's just say he and his wife did rather well at screenwriting. So I have movie people on both sides of the family, and here I sit trying to be a novelist. But the class that covered the "practical" side of being a screenwriter pretty much turned me off of trying. Because I just can't schmooze; it's not in my nature.)
