I generally don't post about politics, feeling that they, like religion, are things best kept to oneself as they're deeply personal and easily lead to strife. I discuss them with my husband, my parents, and (far more rarely) with my close friends, and that's it.

A small amount of politics. )

Since I'm trying to get back on the cooking groove again, tonight's dinner:

Trout, cut into small fillets, breaded in panko, pan-fried in olive oil
Fresh spinach with a minced shallot, wilted in olive oil
Mixed veg, microwaved.

One of these things, she is not like the others. :)

The June Gloom has set in. It was overcast today until about 5:15pm. Because of this and since I'd given the garden a thorough watering yesterday I only stopped by there briefly... weeded a little, put another couple half-squares of carrots-and-radishes in the ground, gave the pumpkins and/or melon vines another iteration of the "the trellises are there so you can go UP them" lesson, harvested a little bit of cilantro for salsa, and pulled the unused trellis out of the ground and brought it home until I can decide what to do with it. Spotted my first (baby) pumpkin as I peered into the jungle of corn-pumpkin-and-beans!

Did a touch more gardening when I got home. Have been pulling out all my volunteer chives; only one more patch to go. Put my two new lemon thymes into pots, using up the last of my potting soil; I need to hit up CostCo for another large bag, as I have plenty more plants that will need larger pots, and I want to start some more seeds going. Also examined the hooks under the stairs and I think I could put two, maybe three hanging pots of fuchsias there... if they're the right pots, that is. There was a hummingbird briefly in the patio area this afternoon; I'd like him to visit some more. Might get another hummingbird feeder, since I took mine to the community garden....
