Meh. Y Iz Not Caturday?
Feb. 19th, 2008 07:36 amStill have my lovely friendly cough sticking with me, but am well enough to go into work.
After starting to draft the Effigy Corset to my measurements last night, realized that it actually won't work for the (low square-necked) Flemish-style outfit I want to make for 'Faire. Pulled out Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion and determined that the other extant corset of the era, a German one, is much more suitable to that neckline. Measured it out and it has a waistline just over half of mine and a bust just over 2/3 of mine. *sigh* Rather than trying to draft it all out sans guide and give myself a headache, I think I'll try my Sophia gown (made from Simplicity's "Shakespeare in Love" pattern) over my new chemise to see how the neckline sits, and use that as a base, just changing the seamlines around as needed. It'll be easier.
