On musicals
Sep. 29th, 2006 10:59 pmWell, I have now seen The Sound of Music. Me being me, it's probably slightly surprising that I'd never seen the movie in its entirety before (just bits and pieces in channel flipping), but now that I have... dunno. I think I'm kind of disappointed, given its rep. I mean, I like movie musicals. I love Julie Andrews movie musicals. So why is it that I ended up catcalling this one? "Oooh, soft focus! This must be a romantic moment!" Le'sigh. Perhaps I should have seen it when I was younger and more impressionable. But given that it's the fortieth anniversary edition and only cost me $7, I shouldn't complain. And it's sparked in me the interest to locate and rewatch other movie musicals I've not seen in ages... Victor, Victoria, My Fair Lady, The King and I, The Music Man... maybe even acquire the Rent DVD despite the problems I know people have with the film version.

I have sun tea and embroidery to do and maybe I can convince the Wonderful Husband to watch some Fraggle Rock with me while we wait for
racerxmachina and
roseembolism to return from the former's brother's wedding.
