Right. Read the first Vampire Hunter D novel translation. Very stylistic, but not bad. Need to rewatch the first movie now, I think.

Writing for the night has shut down at 2,679 words for the day. One more day's work and I'll clear chapter twelve, I think. Chapter twelve is the Chapter of Weird Sh*t. Officially. So far it has had banana slugs, tofu, lizard and rattlesnake meat, eating raw, live fish, and wolves. Wolves the size of large horses. At least seventeen hands at the shoulder. A whole pack of them. Oh, and a ring-tail cat. And humming spiders, but that's another matter. I'm having great fun, can't you tell? And it's after midnight, so I am getting me a drink of water and tucking myself into bed and falling unconscious. 'night, y'all.

Proof that I am, every once in a while, a Useful Person To Have Around: so far today I've repaired a hair clip, two silver hair combs, and hemmed a pair of pants for my mother.

I'm considering raiding a bookstore before I start writing today, but am actually not sure what I want at one, aside from a certain cookbook and a good embroidery primer, one that will show me, among other things, how to create plaited braid stitch. Le'sigh.

Wonderful Husband is watching Office Space on his laptop. Fortunately for my writing, he's using headphones. And laughing like Muttley, which is amusing to listen to.

Went out and raided two bookstores tonight, one domestic, one Japanese. Purchased one of the embroidery books I've been coveting. Wonderful Husband got a couple manga (including newest Hana-Kimi, which I've already read through ^_^). Kinokuniya had not only Tsubasa 11 but 12 as well, and the newest volume of Death Note and the first volume of Emma, which I've been looking for for a while! And then we went to Baja Fresh for dinner, which was not bad and their salsa verde is actually quite tasty. Tastier than the same at Rubio's which, it being right across the street, is our usual Mexican-fast-food-of-choice.

Still stuck in the weird mountains in The Novel, and have just stolen a bit of inspiration from both LotR and more importantly Fantasia (the "Ave Maria" segment). The next section should introduce the first of the dragons, and at that point I should be able to (1) close the chapter, (2) finish my writing for the day, and (3) mourn yet again that I already wrote this scene, a year or two ago, and I still have it on paper somewhere but I don't know where. But I'm at 610 words for the day so far and just over 50K total now. And nowhere near the end. Maybe somewhere near halfway, I don't know. Probably not.

Total for the day: 2,152. Total overall: 52,031 / 87 pages / chapter 12 done.

I really hate rewriting scenes, but at least I had the framework of it still in my head, so it's over and done and Takidatsu has now entered the story. Yay! for blue-haired dragon bishies. Have also discovered that "porn" is one of the many words it is not quite possible to shoe-horn into a fantasy novel. Banana slugs, yes, porn, no. Wonderful Husband adds "banana slug porn, certainly not."

As of Rozen Maiden: Traumend episode three, Nori's would-be boyfriend is still having zero luck. Poor fellow. ^_^
