Wonderful Husband and I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this morning. While in some parts it was wonderful, I found too much of it heavy-handed and end up preferring the Gene Wilder version, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It was... rather a pity, since I'd been looking forward to this film for quite some time, loving Tim Burton's work and loving the promise of delving into Willy Wonka's past. It's left me feeling much like Weiss Kreuz did--it had so much potential that was not handled correctly.
