Apr. 13th, 2004 08:48 amAB was fun, though stressful and exhausting. (I haven't had stress headaches since I got married and at AB I was falling asleep with them and waking up with them.) Next con I need to bring Wonderful Husband with me to keep pain and stress at bay, but AB was sold out. There were lots of nice costumes and lots of workmanship. I was blown away by people who did things like knitted their own sweaters and did metalwork and made their own corsets and hoopskirts... just wow. So many incredible cosplayers out there.
Spending time with S. and L. was nice, though I'm afraid I wasn't very sociable, for which I owe them and best friend an apology. Shi and I finally got to relax Sunday night (and she snagged the check for dinner, grr, must exact revenge for that come next con) and got very hyper-silly and sprouted ideas for a new project. Then we got on a plane (we went to bed at 10, I couldn't get to sleep until 3, and we got up at 6 to head towards airport...) and did some more plotting. Unlike the flight out we didn't have a handwork project to occupy us, so it was a very long flight. And America West is a cheap-ass airline that charges you $5 to rent headphones and lets you *buy* a meal during a six-hour flight rather than providing it to you. But I got home and husband tucked me into bed for an hour and then I had to get up and go to work. Thank goodness I was home in time to work because the second-on called to say he couldn't work Monday nights because of school and no one else could cover either. Meant I got a long shift all alone. Luckily it was a Monday so I could handle it by myself, with the bussers seating just a couple people at seven when we hit our rush and six parties came in at exactly the same time. The rest of the night, though, was dead. I kept myself awake by writing two pages of fic (more in the "Tales from a Ramen Stall" universe, featuring Weiss and post-X Subaru) in tiny handwriting. Went home, fell asleep without even dinner and woke up this morning feeling better. And headache-free.
