hoshikage and I did the two-day con that is probably the last BotCon ever. Our first impression led us to calling it "Mini-Con," which, if you know how thoroughly we despise Transformers Armada, pretty much sums it up.
Then we went to some panels.
Wally Burr, the voice director who seems to have directed the soundtrack to half my childhood. Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime. Ahh, those two panels top any I've ever been to at any con, including Scott McNeill. (No mean feat.) And, HA!, I was right--Peter Cullen did occasionally use a bit of John Wayne voice for Prime. Unfortunately I had to miss most of today as I had to work, but I got to meet the writers (
hoshikage got them to sign my first DVD box while I was still at work) and talk a little bit with Wally Burr. Was neat and sparkly.

Date: 2004-06-22 06:28 am (UTC)Yeah, the Botcon in California will be the last one, but the OTFCC will live on for a few more years, since it's backed by Hasbro now...
Or maybe it will live on for as long as Hasbro can continue milking the fans.
Out of curiousity, the Armada anime wasn't all that great, but have you guys checked out the Armada and Energon comics? Simon Furman hops on board in the second volume of the Armada series and he's doing a good job. :D The G1 comics though are really NICE. I might be biased, they're focusing on Jetfire and Starscream, my two favorite TFs. So if you haven't looked, please do! :D
