Mar. 2nd, 2004 08:54 amWatching the Oscars on Sunday was a fun event. My sister (the uber-LotR fan) was watching it off regular TV in her room upstairs while my husband and I were watching it off satellite downstairs. There was about a two second difference between her broadcast and ours. This meant that every time Return of the King came up for something, we would hear a shriek from upstairs: "Yes! Seven of seven!" just before we found out who won. ^^ To make this even more amusing, we were also watching the webcast of the TORN Oscar party that my friend was attending. We had a nine second delay with their broadcast, which made the evening in total something like this: "And the Oscar--" "*shriek* Eight of eight!" "--Return of the King." (look at laptop, slowly count to nine, tiny pixel people jump up and wave their hands about while cheering).
V. amusing, all told. Pity the TORN webcast was about 2" big so nothing could really be made out.
