Well, Kanata Kara has ended at fourteen volumes. And it ended well....

DIdn't it just? I'm getting really tired of fantasy stories where a person from our world goes to another, meets the love of their life, gains incredible friends and unique abilities, and then says, "Well, Mom's making yakiniku tonight and I've got cram school tomorow. Byeeee." (Escaflowne, I'm looking at YOU.) Kanata Kara's ending left me completely satisfied.... for her to have left would have cheapened their feelings for each other...

So agreed. Kanata Kara is the redemption of (1)Escaflowne, (2)Fushigi Yuugi, and (3)RayEarth. Additionally, it didn't present the choice as an either/or... the end of the story left a strong possibility open that Izark and Noriko may go to Earth for a short visit so that he can see the world she comes from and so that her family can meet him.
