Sneaking one last book in under the wire.
Title: Wickedly Dangerous
Author: Deborah Blake
Length: 329 pages
Another one that came onto my radar thanks to a recommendation by Tamora Pierce, this urban fantasy/romance intrigued me because the main character is a Baba Yaga. Not "the" Baba Yaga, but "a" Baba Yaga. And I don't believe I've seen Russian fairytales mined for this genre before.
The romance is less annoying than I'd feared, and if Baba is the smoking hot whip-thin physical pinnacle that dominates this genre... well, I've put up with worse for a unique view into the Summerlands. Actually, the closest analogue I can think of for the Fae lands in this series is the Toby Daye books by Seanan McGuire.
In any case, the read was easy, and if there was a bit too much denouement and exposition at the end of it all, the world I was introduced to was just different enough from what I was expecting that I'll read the others in this series.
Verdict: If you like the urban fantasy genre, give this one a shot.
