Since I'm several behind, I'm playing catch-up.

Crane Quilt

This is the finished quilt for my guild's whisper challenge. I had the fabric and the design idea for about fifteen years before the challenge pushed me into making it. I'll be interested to see if anyone else did a full bed-sized quilt in one month. I did a traditional sashiko pattern (it's called Orange Peels, in quilting) in the crane sections, and practiced feathers in the black sections. Black-on-black quilting is not very visible, but comes up as nice texture.

Breast Cancer Blues

This one... I don't have a picture of the finished quilt. Huh. I must fix that. Basically, earlier this year my mother was diagnosed with health issues. Which I have not got her permission to discuss, so I'm glossing over further details for now. I learned the meaning of the word "impotent." Couldn't do a damn thing to help. But I made this quilt for her. You can see a bit of the backing fabric in this picture. I picked out peppers and chickens from my stash, as they're things she likes. And my son absolutely loved this quilt, so since I have another set of these blocks, I'll eventually turn them into something for him.

Baby Quilt #3

A happier thing. One of my son's toddler group friends is becoming a big brother sometime this month. There was a baby shower. Since I believe older siblings need to feel special when a new baby disrupts their lives, I made this quilt for him...

Baby Quilt #4

...as well as this quilt for his younger sister to be.

Patriotic Quilt

And, finally, the quilt I mentioned yesterday. This one is a gift for my husband. Who, as of today, is a US Citizen! After nearly twelve years living here. But, as it was relatively easy for him (legal tax-paying immigrant, native to the English language, married to a citizen, has a son with that citizen, has a mortgage with that citizen...), he's not making a big deal of it. So I told him he was my excuse to use up the blocks I won from my guild back in April. And a design setting from a vintage quilt I found in an issue of Traditional Quiltworks dating back to September 2001.
