Busy Sunday

Laundry and dishes, more laundry and tidying.
I've been working on unfreezing my Singer 327K over the last week or two, and have succeeded. It's not an entirely silent machine, but it RUNS now. Hallelujah! It's also a nice soft green. Trying to think of green things to name it, I'm currently stuck on Lily, as Kermit seems too easy somehow. So that machine has been living on the dining table while I put it through its paces. But today, after finishing my sewing for the day, I returned it to its (busted) case and tucked it back away under my sewing desk.
Sewing. What have I been sewing? Well, I've been working on a variation of Garden Party. The original pattern is on point, which I'm not doing, and the original size of each 5x5 grid block is 5". Except I'm tired of using the tiny strips of fabric, so have sized it up to finish at 10" per block. This also will hopefully make a dent in my box of fabric strips that size. I have 29 of the red blocks finished, and another 21 half-done. Then I get to start on the colorful blocks! This will end up for my bed. Though once I get either halfway or all the way on having blocks done, I'm planning to alter course and quilt another quilt I have finished.
Today I also reamed out Squiddle's closet a bit. I call it his closet because it's in his room, but really it's a general storage closet at the moment. But I pulled enough out that I could then put a 60-quart storage box of things he's outgrown, his pack-n-play, and his infant car seat in. I also pulled things (mainly two crib bumpers) out of the cedar chest in his room so that I could put all of the stack of mostly blankets that had been on top of the chest, into the chest.
Another box of his old toys has gone out into the garage, and the Goodwill donation for tomorrow is filling the entire back of my car. I'm getting the house tidy one bit at a time, one room at a time. Why? Wednesday morning, Squiddle's toddler group is going to meet here. Panic! Flail! Clean! And I know it's futile - the house is not going to be spotless. The house will never be spotless. It's the nature of the beast. But it's going to be tidier, even if only by a little. And that will be enough.
