Oh Fucking Canine Hell...

So for the last couple days I've been smelling something faintly odd in the side yard. I thought it was just that the compost needed turning.

Except, after we did that this morning, I went to water the potted plants. Specifically, the potted trees that line the fence between us and the park. Now, this fence is actually a doubled fence, two rows of cinderblocks with about a foot of space in between them. Our inner layer, which actually only runs along half the property, has periodic decorative bricks with cutouts that make them look like "XX". And out of one of these decorative bricks peeped tawny fur.

There is apparently a huge dead dog between the two fences. We have no idea where it came from, whose it is, or how the everlasting hell it got there. Wonderful Husband posits that maybe someone dumped it there from the park.

We have called Animal Control and they're going to send someone out to assess the situation. I did not peek over the fence; Wonderful Husband did, and he says he's just afraid that when they try to pull the dog out, it's not going to come in one piece....

So not what I needed on a Sunday. Putting this down as another reason we need to eventually get rid of that inner fence.

Aw, MAN.

Either dumped, or possibly the poor thing was sick/injured/old and just got itself stuck back there and died on its own. Sad, either way. =/

At least they are coming out. When I had a cat die on my front porch, my dad and husband had to get rid of it.

Thing is, there's no way for it to have gotten there. One gate to the backyard is blocked, the other is locked. It had to have come over from the park side, and that's a six foot fence to jump....

Still possible, oddly enough, if probably unlikely. Just that animals get into the most amazing places sometimes. >,>

Poor fuckin' dog! and poor you for having to find it! *hug*

Glurg! D: Hope they take care of it soon. We usually get a dead dog or two dumped in my park every year, and, since Animal Control doesn't venture far from the paved roads, it's been my happy task to drag the body from the trail to the road. You get some odd looks from the hikers, lol - "just dragging a dead dog on a blanket here, folks, nothing to see..."

Holy WOW I am so sorry to hear this....

Oog. Yeah, I get that, too. Road kill in front of the pet hospital? Doesn't look good. DX Fortunately for us, our cremation service will just take them if we ask.
