So, in my reading challenge there are a lot of things I read that I don't count. Rereading a book, for instance. Or something that's primarily pictures, like graphic novels. Also, fanfiction.
But wait! you say. I see that this book was written and illustrated by LJ people! I suspect it's fanfiction--you're cheating!
No I'm not. They put it together as a book and I bought it and thus I've decided I'm going to count it.
So this is essentially a main-character-focused version of what a theoretical season 3 of Princess Tutu would be like. Which I, and others, have also taken a stab at. And while I very much like my own Tutu fics, This Pendent Heart is just a shade superior. Not just because of Mangaka-chan's illustrations (which, as always, are gorgeous), but because of the thought and research that went into this volume. It's even annotated for all the books and poems and legends it references, which is more than I ever did!
Of course, for people who haven't watched Princess Tutu it's fairly useless. But if you have, and you liked it... go buy a copy. The creators are doing a second round of sales for the book through the end of March. Support awesome fan projects, y'all!
