Title: Dead to the World
Author: Charlaine Harris
Length: 291 pages

Finishing out the year on a significant number, with eight minutes to go as I type. ^_^

This one is... not bad. Sookie's not as whiny as she's been before, though I still think she's a Mary Sue. One of those Mary Sues who even though she believes in her own morality, sleeps with a guys she knows she shouldn't, while freshly broken up from her last boyfriend, while supposedly deeply in distress over her missing brother. Now, I get how the whole "grief = passion" thing is supposed to work, but really it pushed my credulity. The overall plot of this book seemed tighter than some of the others, even if it seems like with every book Harris has to bring in a bigger, better, shinier supernatural species. Werewolf witches that drink vampire blood! And fairies! Really! *cue eyeroll*

Still, I didn't want to hurt Sookie much, and I can admire her New Year's resolution (in that, reading this tonight was well timed) to not get herself significantly injured in this book.

Verdict: Read if you're reading the series.
