Not Dead Yet
Feeling crappy last night, I ended up not going to Wonderful Husband's Bring-A-Friend night for his skating class. Which I kind of feel guilty about, but OTOH I know I would've only ended up feeling worse. So I stayed home instead, waiting for the painkillers to kick in, and let the cats out into the yard. They're less cranky when they get outside for a bit. And potted up the other plumeria stick
femme4jack brought me from Hawaii. And the aloe vera in the 2" pot that I'd bought at the same time I'd got more cactus/plumeria potting soil. And I watered six of the seven garden beds (the strawberry bed didn't really need it). And turned upwards of a dozen lemons into cordial. And wrote on the next chapter of Deus Ex Machina; it's somewhere over half done now, and
femme4jack seems to think it's good so far, so that's something. And I finally, finally e-mailed off the PDF for the handout for the medieval dress class I taught at Costume College to everyone who didn't get a copy. So I was productive, and slept well.
This morning, I brought in to work half of our first watermelon, sliced up. I'm hoping most of it will be gone by the time I leave. It's not that it's a bad melon; far from it! But there's a lot of it, and Wonderful Husband doesn't really care for them, and there's another half-dozen or so coming. :/ I also brought my puzzle box with me, and am planning to stop at the sewing machine shop on the way home and see if they have more bobbins of the correct size for Maggie, and if they have any spares of the screws and nuts and other widgets that will mean I can use all the feet in the box.
And I am really, really resisting the desire to respond to a craigslist ad that has an in-need-of-refinishing Singer 15 treadle for $25. I want to learn and practice refinishing techniques, yes, and I want a treadle, yes, but I still haven't got everything I have onto the fabric shelves, I should practice on the pieces I have available to me (Maggie's box, my mother's treadle, etc) first, and I don't have a place to put a treadle machine right now anyway. Three reasons should be enough for me to resist, right?
